Orientation for Graduate and Professional Students

The Office of Global Learning’s International Services team is here to help you settle in and find out what you need to know to succeed at Cornell. For international undergraduate, graduate, and professional students starting at Cornell in Spring of 2023, we offer a robust orientation which includes virtual and in-person programming. We look forward to meeting you!

The International Graduate and Professional Student Orientation, hosted by the Office of Global Learning, gives you an early start on your Cornell experience by introducing you to important resources for international students and helping you connect with your classmates from around the world

Spring 2023 Orientation

Registration is required and includes two sessions, one virtual and one in person:

The following are some of the topics that will be covered:

  • Immigration guidelines
  • Wellness and diversity in the U.S.
  • Campus safety: crime prevention, scam awareness
  • Cornell’s academic values and expectations
  • A panel with current international students, covering how to get ready for life in the U.S. and Ithaca, and how to navigate Cornell
  • Activities to get to know other international students

We will also provide a curated list of resources that will cover:

  • International Student Union (ISU) packing list
  • International Student Union (ISU) survival guide: banking, cell phones, and much more
  • Support for taxes
  • Career Services
  • English Language Support Office (graduate and professional students only)
  • John S. Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines (undergraduate students only)
